Explore Middle School admission applications should be submitted in the fall of students' 5th grade year. The application will be available on Tuesday, October 27 at 12:00pm. You can click here to apply at 12:00 PM on October 27.
Recommendation Letters must be submitted via SchoolMint by Friday, December 4, 2020. Two letters of recommendation are required; ideally, these letters are from 3rd, 4th or 5th grade teachers. Hard copies will not be accepted. Please do not send hard copies to the school. All applicants will receive a confirmation email stating the required teacher recommendation was received.
The Admission Review Committee (ARC) is a school-based committee comprised of counselors, teachers and administrators. The ARC performs a comprehensive evaluation based on the applicant’s grades, attendance, scores, special skills, talents, interests, letters of recommendation, essay and learning preference. Applicants are selected based on this criteria while considering the demographics of Hudson County. Students/parents/counselors will receive a notification by mid-March; students will be notified of their orientation meeting upon acceptance.
CAREER TECHNICAL MIDDLE SCHOOL
Explore Middle School, the only career and technical middle school in New Jersey, is a rigorous, project-based school. Our curriculum is developed around thematic units which integrate interdisciplinary studies, meet the standards, and engage students in a hands-on approach. We focus not only on the core subjects but also career and technical studies, character development, team building, and critical thinking.
Within our diverse community, students learn how to be self-directed learners while being challenged academically, taking all traditional classes as well as CTE classes. Interpersonal skills are developed through collaborative activities that require both teamwork and independence. Explore Middle School builds character and enhances problem-solving abilities.
