(October 30th, 2019 — Jersey City) Explore Middle School was ranked the #1 School Team and #5 Team overall for the American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer event held at Lincoln Park on October 20th.
Explore students, family members, staff and community members fundraised over $3,000 collected for the cause. Mr. Sal Vega and the Hudson County Schools of Technology Foundation also made a generous donation.
40 students and family members joined Principal Krone, Supervisor Velazquez, Ms. Los Banos, Ms. Calabrese, and Ms. Franco to walk Lincoln Park with 100s of others to celebrate the fight against breast cancer. The event began with motivational speeches, music, and dancing and ended with a walk through the park.
“I am so proud of the fundraising efforts of the PSA and the student body. Last year, we beat our goal of $1,000 so I set out for us to beat a goal this year of $2,000 and we did that and more. Many families are affected by cancer, even within our own Explore community, so participating in this event and raising money to fund research is very important to us.”
